Alexandra Levina
Artist
Alexandra Levina is a visual artist whose creative journey began right here in New Zealand. It was within this new environment that she fully emerged as an artist, discovering drawing and visual expression as an essential part of her life. The change of surroundings became a turning point, allowing her to slow down, turn inward, and gradually shape her own artistic language.
Her practice evolved alongside her personal growth. Beginning with airbrushing and large-scale murals, she was drawn to open spaces, movement, and direct interaction with the environment. These early works allowed her to explore scale and presence, to work intuitively, and to respond to the context of place. Over time, the focus of her work gradually shifted toward more tactile and sculptural forms. Today, Alexandra actively works with relief, volume, and surface, where the play of light and shadow plays a central role. This transition reflects a deeper attention to material and spatial depth, allowing her works to move beyond the plane and enter into a quiet, physically perceptible dialogue with space.
Alexandra enjoys sharing her creative process through exhibitions, live art events and workshops, where she teaches drawing and creative techniques. She values observing how people become engaged in the process and witness the work as it comes into being. These moments of interaction infuse her practice with energy and inspiration, transforming the act of creation into a shared, living experience.
