Pauline Gough

Artist

Pauline Gough, a lifelong artist with roots deeply planted in rural life, brings the rustic charm of farm life into her vivid paintings. Growing up and living on a farm, her artistic journey began later in life, after years as a primary school teacher and secretary, and raising four children. Her work prominently features themes of rural landscapes, animals, and florals, expressed through acrylic and mixed media, reflecting her expressive and experimental style.

Influenced by post-impressionists like Cezanne and Van Gogh, Pauline's art is a celebration of the rural world she loves. Her career milestones include selling 26 paintings to a single buyer early on and participating as a touring artist with the Tour of NZ to raise funds for local charities.

Engaging with the community through the Mahurangi Art Trail, she thrives on the energy and spontaneity of creating art in public, believing it enhances appreciation for the artistic process and fosters a vibrant exchange of ideas among artists.
