Rashi Shandiliya

Artist

Rashi Shandiliya, born in India and now a New Zealand-based artist, blends her background in computer science with her lifelong passion for art. Transitioning from a successful career as a software engineer, she now fully embraces her true calling as a conceptual artist, focusing on figurative realism that is both visually striking and thought-provoking. Rashi utilizes a variety of mediums including oil colors, acrylics, charcoal pencils, and techniques such as overpainting and drybrushing to explore themes of self-expression, social justice, and cultural heritage.

Her artwork often features portraits and figures that delve into human forms and their interactions with the world, drawing inspiration from personal influences like her father, who first introduced her to art. Rashi's journey in the arts has been marked by significant achievements such as receiving the highly commended STUFF ART AOTEAROA GOLD AWARD at The Auckland Art Show in 2024, and first place in the Radio Spice painting competition in NZ, 2022. Her work has been exhibited in numerous shows, including the Franklin Art Show and Waitakere Members Art Exhibition. Comfortable in public spaces, Rashi enjoys engaging with audiences and values the creative synergy of working alongside other artists, which enhances her artistic growth and community connection
