Lizzy Dickie has made New Zealand her home for over two decades, finding inspiration in its stunning coastal landscapes and vibrant marine life. Her home studio in Whangaparaoa, overlooking the sea, serves as the perfect backdrop for her creative endeavors in ink, fineline, watercolor, and oil paint.
Lizzy's work is characterized by its intricate detail and experimental vibrancy, often featuring marine themes drawn from her experiences sailing, diving, and swimming around the Hauraki Gulf.
Influenced by Richard Long's nature-centric art and her own nautical adventures, she integrates geographical charts and scenes viewed through portholes into her mini oil paintings. Lizzy's art has evolved to focus on smaller, intimate pieces, reflecting her deep connection with the ocean's transient beauty.
Her academic background from Central St Martins and various art awards highlight her recognized talent and dedication. Lizzy also values community and collaboration, having recently embraced the exhilarating challenge of live Art Battles, further enriching her artistic journey and connection with fellow artists.
