Lukasz Ograbek
Artist

Lukasz Ograbek, a Polish-born artist now based in New Zealand, has seamlessly integrated his rich heritage and extensive personal experiences into a robust artistic career spanning over 25 years. His journey began with a practical background in painting and decorating, which laid the foundation for his transition to a serious art practice about 14 years ago.
Under the influence of his father and uncle, both accomplished artists in Poland, Ograbek was initially drawn to naive surrealism before developing his unique style of complex, layered abstract expressionism, which he refers to as "Everythingnism." This style marries oriental and Polish folk influences with an expressive, abstract palette, enabling a spontaneous and dynamic approach to art.

Ograbek primarily works with oils but frequently experiments with acrylics, ink, charcoal, and oil pastels, allowing him to continuously explore new techniques, themes, and compositional strategies. His artistic evolution is marked by the creation of larger and more enigmatic works, reflecting his ongoing quest to push creative boundaries. His career highlights include a nearly sold-out solo exhibition and winning the Robin Kerwell award in a group show. A documentary has featured his unique perspectives on the current art scene and his creative process, further solidifying his impact on the art community.
