Vjekoslav Nemesh

Artist | Tutor

Vjekoslav Nemesh, born in Serbia (former Yugoslavia) and a New Zealand resident for over 30 years, has established himself as a significant figure in the international art scene. His artistic roots were nourished by comics in his youth, transitioning to oil painting following a transformative commission in his early twenties. This pivotal moment set him on a professional path filled with both local acclaim and international exhibitions.

Nemesh’s art is characterized by its spiritual and emotional depth, using a combination of oils, palette knives, dry brushes, and color shapers to create textured, deeply layered works. His style captures the complexity of his inner experiences, where each piece serves as a universe of emotions influenced by life’s joys and challenges. Nemesh has participated in numerous group exhibitions and held over 50 solo shows globally, enriching his practice through collaborations, notably the "Interconnection" exhibitions across New Zealand.

These experiences have not only expanded his artistic horizons but also reinforced his role within the artistic community as both a mentor and learner. As he continues to evolve artistically, Nemesh looks forward to further explorations in themes and techniques, aiming to inspire through more exhibitions and workshops.

Metallica Series

By: Nemesh

The versatility and vibrancy of Resene paints open up for me exciting possibilities, sparking a sense of curiosity and exploration in my artistic journey. With each stroke, I embrace the spontaneity of the medium, allowing the colours to flow and evolve organically on the canvas. This fusion of traditional techniques with innovative materials enriches my creative process, leading to dynamic and captivating works of art. Using Resene paints I created whole exhibition of about 80 pieces and made a book both named Metallica, because I was mainly using metallic paint.
