Lesley Ly (aka Leinsketch or Leinstellar) is a Chinese artist, born and raised in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland. Lesley has always been captivated by the fantasy worlds of comics, books, manga, and anime from a young age and this is reflected in their work. Their art comprises digital as well as traditional media - both in a realistic, and stylised art style - reflecting their varied interests. Their favourite traditional media to use are coloured pencils and ink pens, which through life drawing, has developed into their signature style.

 

Lesley captures the fantasy in the mundane, drawing from realistic inspiration, combining the figure infront with unexpected fantasy elements and imagined props and scenes, sparking joy to viewers. Lesley always pushes the limits of what can be drawn in the 5, 10, or 20 minute timer, which has since allowed them to develop into a successful quick sketch portrait artist - capturing portraits in as little as 10 minutes.
