Paul Brunton, emerging from a family rich in artistic tradition, has explored various mediums from wood and steel to oils and watercolors, influenced by his lifelong connection to water and outdoor activities. Inspired by Tui Hobson, his artistic journey began with an adventurous spirit, leading to a diverse and expressive portfolio.

 

His work, eclectic and varied, often focuses on environmental themes and social commentary, driven by influences like his uncle, Linden Smith, and artists Dave Nash and Wyland. Paul's career highlights include selling a significant piece at "NZ Sculpture on Shore 2024" and engaging in innovative collaborations such as a 'Blind Date for Artists,' which paired him with a poet to fuse visual art with poetry.

 

Comfortable in public spaces, Paul thrives in live carving events and art battles, where he can share the depth of his artistic process with onlookers.
