Asheley Elizabeth
Sculptor
Asheley Elizabeth is a contemporary sculptor whose layered, mixed-media works explore the intersections of nature, science, and intuition. Working with reclaimed materials such as wood and perspex, she creates abstract forms and nature-based studies that invite curiosity, connection, and new perspectives.
Asheley's process begins with visualisation, deconstructing forms into elemental components (cellular, skeletal, colour, structure) and reassembling them into new, meaningful configurations. These ideas are tested through sketching and paper maquettes, allowing her to explore the interplay of light, shadow, and movement before resolving them into fully realised works.
Raised in Canada, Asheley honed her creative language through a BFA in Interdisciplinary Studies in Toronto. She now maintains a full-time practice in Aotearoa New Zealand, where she is represented by galleries nationwide. Alongside her studio work, she creates large-scale installations both nationally and internationally, with a focus on fostering community engagement and connection through art.
“Art opens a portal into new ways of seeing ourselves, others and the world.. it is our innate language of connection.”
