Jamie Boynton is a leading figure among contemporary Māori artists, merging his heritage with modern visual communication techniques. Educated in Visual Communications and Design at Victoria University, Jamie integrates indigenous knowledge with his expertise in painting, sculpting, and light art, often utilizing recycled materials. His work spans various visual platforms, reflecting New Zealand’s unique identity through a blend of cultural values and artistic innovation.

Based in his ancestral homelands of the Eastern Bay of Plenty, Jamie's art is deeply rooted in 'te ao Māori', using metaphors from Māori culture to inform his environmental and social themes. His desire is to inspire future generations by reconnecting them with ancestral wisdom through contemporary art. Jamie has gained international recognition with residencies like LUX Light Wellington and I-Light Singapore, and continues to influence through creative direction and educational initiatives, aiming to craft iconic Contemporary New Zealand Art and Design.
