Valentina Abramova
Artist | Interior Decorator
I was born and lived in Russia. I started drawing very early, as early as I can remember. At 12, I graduated from primary art school. Then I studied at art college and became a professional artist and decorator. My first job was with children; I taught drawing and painting in primary and secondary schools. I was constantly learning, looking for different opportunities for artistic growth.
My life was difficult, and I wasn't always able to draw or work in a creative field. After turning 35, I reintroduced creativity into my life. I completed advanced training courses, received a diploma in interior design, a diploma and higher qualification in folk crafts, and also in miniature painting. This helped me find interesting work. I have made a career in furniture design, restoration, and decorating.
My dream of painting came true after moving to New Zealand! I love experimenting with different materials, creating unusual shapes and textures. In my work, I use acrylic, glass, texture paste, fabric, glue, live plants, paper and much more. My love of combining seemingly incompatible things extends to other areas of my life. In my free time, I bake cakes, experimenting with new flavors. I teach small workshops at home and go on nature trips to develop my skills in quick watercolor sketches.
