Frankie Meaden
Mxed Media Artist

Frankie Meaden is a contemporary artist working primarily with fibre and mixed media to create large-scale, tactile works for public, commercial, and exhibition contexts.

Her practice is grounded in material exploration and process-led making, with a strong focus on how work behaves over time and within space. Through layering, repetition, and considered construction, Frankie develops pieces that respond to site, scale, and audience — often blurring the boundary between textile, sculpture, and installation.

Frankie’s work has been commissioned for public settings across Auckland and internationally, including large-scale outdoor and interior installations. She regularly works with reclaimed and repurposed materials, balancing environmental responsibility with durability, longevity, and professional installation requirements.

A key aspect of Frankie’s approach is collaboration. Public and commissioned projects are developed through close engagement with clients, stakeholders, and — where appropriate — community groups. This includes sharing her creative process in structured, guided ways that invite participation while maintaining the integrity and authorship of the final artwork.

Alongside public work, Frankie maintains an active studio practice, developing exhibition-based and conceptual bodies of work that inform and extend her commissioned projects. Her work often draws quiet reference from the landscapes and biodiversity of Aotearoa New Zealand, not as direct representation, but as an influence on rhythm, form, and material behaviour.

Frankie approaches each project with care, clarity, and professionalism — from early concept development and material testing through to fabrication and installation — creating work that is thoughtful, site-responsive, and built to last.
